Empowering wellness through connection.
The heart behind Corkren Counseling
Healing Through Connection. Growth Through Support.
Corkren Counseling LLC was founded with one clear mission: to create safe, personalized spaces where individuals and families can experience real, lasting healing. At the heart of this mission is Kaitlin Corkren, a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who brings passion, empathy, and deep personal insight into her therapeutic work.
Kaitlin tailors her counseling approach to honor the unique stories, challenges, and strengths of each client. Whether supporting student-athletes navigating identity and performance, or guiding children and families through transformative play therapy, her focus is always on connection and empowerment. No two journeys are the same - so therapy shouldn’t be either.

Kaitlin Corkren is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and the founder of Corkren Counseling LLC. Whether she’s working with high school and college athletes managing mental health alongside performance, or children and families navigating life’s challenges through the power of play therapy, Kaitlin brings warmth, empathy, and a deep respect for each client’s unique journey.
A Journey of Kaitlin,
Fueled by Healing
Kaitlin’s path to counseling is deeply personal. After 13 years of playing lacrosse - including at the collegiate level at North Greenville University, where she earned her degree in psychology - she became acutely aware of the mental health struggles often faced by student-athletes. When several teammates attempted suicide, it left a profound impact and sparked her passion for mental health advocacy.
This calling led her to pursue a graduate degree in Counselor Education at the University of South Carolina, where her initial goal was to support athletes within college athletic departments. However, an unexpected elective course in play therapy completely reshaped her vision. The creativity and emotional depth of play therapy opened her eyes to a powerful healing approach for children and families.
Today, Corkren Counseling blends these two passions - supporting athletes under pressure and helping children express, process, and grow through play. At the core of Kaitlin’s work is the belief that healing can look different for everyone - but it always starts with feeling safe, supported, and seen.
